Some years ago my daughter's school flute got damaged. I took it to the music centre in Walthamstow to get it fixed. The reception lady told me'Go through that door! 'On entering a big room I was delighted to find myself in a room full of shelves on which were piled musical instruments of all kinds. At the centre of the room at a bench was an elderly chap sitting mending a flute… I asked him if I could take photographs and he agreed and later on I did this painting… It is quite large on wood in oil.
